Welcome |
Adriatic boating - links to the boats - motor boats, sailboats, luxury yachts, yacht charter, sailing, marinas, boat equipment. Adriatic destinations and good places, boating cruises, fishing. The Adriatic Sea and its islands off Croatia's Coast make this coastline one of the most beautiful, not only in the Mediterran but also in the world. Adriatic Sea's full length is 870 kms, while it average width is 160 kms. The overall length of the Adriatic coastline is almost 35,000 kms. Other countries bordering with Adriatic sea are: Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with a very small coastline and Montenegro and Albania with somewhat longer coastline. But it's Italy and Croatia that truly cradle the Adriatic sea. Adriatic Sea is one of the cleanest seas in the world. Average seawater transparency in the Adriatic ranges between 20 and 30 metres. Sea's high salinity gives it its deep blue colour, by which Adriatic Sea is known. Croatia Travel

CROATIA |
One of the most beautiful cruising grounds in Europe. Hundreds of pretty anchorages and ports steeped in history.
The climate is dry and comfortable. Hot during the summer day, pleasantly cool, T-shirt weather in the evenings and even a little chilly in the early morning before sunrise.
There are very few mosquitoes and the yellow-jacket wasps seem quite docile and harmless if you ignore them, and manage to keep them out of your beer.
There are few sandy beaches, but the rock shelves and pebble beaches are a nice change. The water is crystal clear and mostly above 24 degrees Celsius.
Croatia used to be very inexpensive but is fast catching up with the rest of the EU, and many long-time cruisers complain bitterly about pricing. If you steer clear of the expensive marinas, with a few exceptions, one can anchor free almost every night. Many bays have moorings, at a fee, but usually I was able to find anchorage nearby that was free. I think, only twice I had to pay a fee (<100Kn- €14) to anchor. |

SAILING IN THE MEDITERANEAN |

SKIPPERED CHARTER
"CANOPUS" is a well-equipped Moody 44, quite a roomy yacht so that 6 people can sail in relative comfort. She has room for 4 guests in two cabins, one double in the bow and one with two bunk berths. Skippers cabin is aft. 6 on board a yacht is an ideal number and allows for each crew member to have some private space at some time during the day.
She is currently in the South Aegean and will be sailing in Greece and Turkey in 2008. There is no set timetable. Where possible we will allocate periods to suit you.
Prices are for one week but we welcome longer stays. Cheap flights are available on the Internet and should be booked within a few weeks of departure. Further advice will be given on booking. Transfers are usually arranged by crew members. A hire car may be possible at your expense. Otherwise use an airport taxi or bus.
We have tried to keep prices low so they cover the berth and the skipper. All other costs are payable on board. These include food and drink, mooring fees, fuel charges and breakages.
All sailings will be determined by the current weather. Above all we aim to have fun with everyone having a go! Anyone wishing to take on the responsibilities of skipper can do so, but under supervision. Other crew members can be taught new skills as required. There will be plenty of opportunity to go ashore and to relax in anchorages.

Megayacht POLAR STAR 208 (Ex. NORTHERN STAR) |

The owner of Northern Star is the man who runs North America’s largest commercial fishing fleet and has many years behind him as an ocean racing and cruising sailor, so it is perhaps unsurprising to find that his first large motor yacht reflects an appreciation for the value of top notch design and engineering as well as a regard for the sea-going comfort of guests and crew.
There is no trace of ostentation in this latest offering from Lürssen; from stem to stern and throughout her six levels of interior and exterior deck space, she exemplifies the builder’s and the owner’s passion for quality in the strength and finish of construction in a steel hull and aluminum superstructure designed by Espen Øino.

Practical Advice For The Boat Buyer From Someone Who’s Been There
If you’re like most boat buyers, you’re head is spinning. There are so many options it’s confusing.
Before buying I got advice from friends (which was generally good) and advice on the internet (which was generally confusing, self-serving or contradictory.)
This is a summary of the practical lessons I learned from trying to find a decent boat at a decent price.
